“Neal Parent’s workshops — on board ship, in the south of France, or taken privately — are absolutely wonderful. His quick wit combined with his patience and teaching skills are truly extraordinary. Anyone, at any skill level, who participates in one of his workshops is certain to come out a better photographer with memories to share.” – Amy Isaacs

2017 Workshops

Maine Winter SceneWinter Digital Workshops

Jan 9-13  Midcoast Maine
Feb 20-24  Midcoast Maine
March 13-17  Midcoast Maine

The Maine workshops will cover areas from Pemaquid Light to Lubec. Weather is the  big factor on where we go.  There will be horse farm shots, boat building shots, sunrises on the  coast , night shooting, and of course daily critiques and editing at the  Parent Gallery. Winter shooting is a challenge, as the  snow and sun can fool the camera’s light meter.  However, it is a time for exceptional lighting, and produces some tremendous images.

“Neal made an excellent course fun, instructional and exciting. He has a great passion for photography and working with people.”

Jan 27-29 Northeast Kingdom, Northern Vermont

The Northeast Kingdom Vermont workshop will be based in Newport, Vermont, near Lake Memphremagog, which straddles the border with Canada. The much photographed Northeast Kingdom is known for its natural beauty and New England charm, and is sure to provide endless photo opportunities! Weather permitting, we hope to include the Lake Memphremagog Waterfront, inside Currier’s Quality Market country store, South Bay ice fishing shanties, the Lake Memphremagog ice castle, the architectural beauty of St. Mary’s Star of the Sea Church in Newport and Haskell Free Library on the Canadian Border, and possibly a sleigh ride, fiddling, country dinner, and more. See the flyer with additional information here.

“I would recommend Neal’s workshops to anyone. Bring only your love of photography; Neal provides the rest. ” – Marian Siljeholm, Workshop Participant

Scottish Coast EllisOConnorScotland

April 20 – 27, 2017  – 7 nights

Scotland – great natural beauty, dramatic history, islands, lakes and mountains, myth and legend, ancient castles and the wail of bagpipes.  From the elegant architecture of Edinburgh’s New Town to the castle dominating the old part of the city, Edinburgh offers a wide range of sights in a spectacular location.  From there we’ll head for the Highlands,  and the spectacular Isle of Skye.  Dramatic peaks, bays and inlets, villages and small colorful towns are bordered by wild coastlines and secret beaches here.  We’ll continue down the coast to Oban, the Isle of Mull and even smaller islands to explore.  We will end in Glasgow, Scotland’s other big city and a lively counterpoint to Edinburgh.

Beaumaris Castle © Crown copyright (2013) Visit Wales

Wales has more castles per square mile than any other country in Europe.  Wales also boasts a gorgeous rugged coastline, a spectacular national park and a language and culture distinct from the rest of Great Britain.

We will concentrate on the region of North Wales, home to Snowdonia National Park and the highest peak in Britain, along with a dramatic collection of ancient castles along the coast.  We’ll also have a chance to ride one of the famous narrow gauge trains for outstanding views over the countryside.

“The Ireland trip we took with Neal was hands-down the best trip of my life. Not only was the scenery and the company of great people wonderful, but I learned so much! I have my B.A. in photography, and I was shocked how much Neal taught me. I came home with a rekindled passion for shooting, and my photos are better than ever. He is AMAZING; easy-going, patient, and his passion for photography is contagious. I loved how some of the more inexperienced photographers on the trip listened to Neal so closely and intently. I can’t wait to go on another journey with him again.” – Sonya Williams
