With his years of experience, keen eye, talent for teaching, and knowledge of photography, Neal offers a variety of workshops for students of all levels.

Classes in Maine take advantage of Neal’s knowledge of the area, connections with local life, and his enthusiasm for the beauty of Maine.  Workshops abroad offer adventures in photographing novel scenes, which brings a fresh perspective to capturing images that make memories.

Along with partnering with the Windjammer Angelique and Maine Media Workshops & College, Neal offers private digital  workshops in and around Belfast, Maine, in the Midcoast Maine area.

For additional information on any of Neal’s workshops or trips, contact him at Parent Fine Art: 207-338-1553 or neal@nealparent.com.

“Neal Parent’s workshops — on board ship, in the south of France, or taken privately — are absolutely wonderful. His quick wit combined with his patience and teaching skills are truly extraordinary. Anyone, at any skill level, who participates in one of his workshops is certain to come out a better photographer with memories to share.” – Amy Isaacs

2023 Workshops

Explore the Maine Coast
on the ketch Angelique

July 2-8, 2023

Windjammer Angelique out of Camden Maine.

My 43rd time with this workshop… Shooting, editing, critiquing, sailing, eating, rowing, hiking, laughing, etc., what could be better?

Contact Windjammer Angelique for more information or to register.

You will learn how to expose correctly on the water with constantly changing light conditions.  Go ashore each day and explore different islands and their inhabitants, capturing the feeling of coastal Maine and it’s people, and receive daily critiques with a slide show of all work at the end of the week.  All levels of experience welcome.

Here is some of what you may get to see and photograph: Sailing The Coast, Boats and Angelique 2019.

“While a student at Montgomery College and taking a photojournalism class, I was asked to take pictures of an art festival. At the Sugarloaf Crafts Festival in Gaithersburg, MD, Neal was the only person willing to let me take pictures of him and his artwork. Since meeting him back in 2004, I have taken classes with Neal about five times and he has helped me build my own darkroom. Aside from my classes in high school and college, Neal is by far the greatest teacher I have ever had and a fun person. Neal makes a week up in Maine informational and very enjoyable.” – Andy Sussman
